Hello lovely! Have you already locked yourself up in your room to avoid the
horrendous weather? The wind and rain is really getting on my nerves,
and I find myself seeking for excuses to stay inside just a bit longer every
morning. The best excuse for me is books. As you might have guessed, I love
books. I started around the age of 4 (not exaggerated, I skipped 2nd
grade because of this!) and never stopped. So today I thought, why not do one
of the many book tags that are out there? I want to focus more on books on this
blog, since I appreciate them so much, and feel like books are way
underrated. So yes, let’s hop onto this
train and get started, shall we?
Do you have a certain
place at home for reading?
Oh yes, I definitely do. I love reading in my bed, at the side of the
window, so that I can read with natural light. At my parents’ house I tend to
read in the corner of the couch, again near the window. I don’t know why, but I
find that natural light makes reading so much less exhausting then artificial
light.. As soon as the temperatures rise enough to sit outside, my parents’
garden and my windowsill/balcony become my reading spots.
Bookmark or a random
piece of paper?
Being a big fan of the bookdepository online shop, I have a lot of
beautiful bookmarks, but I don’t really use them. I tend to zone out when reading
and only realize that I should go when I should’ve been on my bike already, so
I am one of those people who just grabs whatever is near and uses that.
Can you stop reading
anytime you want or do you have to stop at a certain page, chapter, part, etc.?
I usually stop at the end of a chapter/scene, because if I don’t I will
continue to think about it anyways, so I better get it over with and read what happens,
haha!
Do you eat or drink
while reading?
I read every morning during breakfast, but I always forget to eat while
reading and end up having to shove everything down my throat as quick as
possible. So technically, no.
Can you read while
listening to music/watching TV?
Definitely not while watching TV/when someone else is watching TV,
except when it’s sports. I always get distracted when someone else is
commenting on something they’re seeing on the telly. Music is good though, I
love listening to music when I read.
One book at a time,
or several at once?
Depends on what kind of book. I normally read a “serious” book together
with an easy read, so that I van have a break from the hard sentences when I need
to. This is mostly because I don’t have that much time to read. In the train or in the morning are the times when I read a lot , and books like Anna Karenina aren't the best
option for me at those occasions!
Reading at home or
everywhere?
EVERYWHERE. Long day at uni with
spare time? You will find a book in my bag.
Reading out loud or
silently in your head?
Silently in my head, although I do read beautiful written scenes out
loud sometimes, just to feel the words a bit more.. is that weird?
Do you read ahead or
skip pages?
Nope. I completely zone out when I’m reading, and am quite a slow reader
because of this. I can’t read fast, because I need to read the scenes like you’d
watch a movie; on the exact same pace as normal conversation would go.
Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
Breaking the spine. Books are filled with a new world, and new
adventures. Keeping the spine unbroken is like keeping a human being in a glass
jar. Books are meant to be lived.
Do you write in
books?
No, I can’t put myself to it,
although I sometimes underline sentences with a pencil, when I’m in a mood for
it. I think it’s a good thing to do though, because that way you read a book so
much more intensely, and that way you can flip back to your favourite scenes
more easily. But nah, I read for pleasure. Underlining things reminds me of my
university books.
Whoo, that was it already! Feel free to do this tag and let me know you
did it, so that I can check it out. I hope you enjoyed getting to know my
reading habits a bit more, I certainly enjoyed answering these questions. As
you might have guessed, I’m still not too sure what I want to do with this
blog, but hopefully I will find out along the way.
Have an amazing weekend, stay true to who you are, and I will see you
soon!
