Hello there lovely, did you enjoy your first month of the year? January was a good month for me, it even gave me snow! I've been loving the sound of snow crunching beneath your boots for so long now, and this month was the first time in ages that I could really enjoy it again (I even built a snowman, YAY!)
From now on, I'm going to do a favourites post every end of the month. I feel like I don't appreciate the nice things i buy enough, and a blogpost like this gives me the perfect opportunity to rummage through my stuff and discover all the beauty that is in my life, ahah!
First up is more of a 2014 favourite then it is a January one, but I couldn't not mention it, because this bottle of jolly goodness saved my life. The Nivea Cleansing Mousse is one of those products that uses the Hydra IQ technology, and believe me, it's heaven. It's said to improve the hydration of the skin, and I don't know if it really does that, but I do know that my skin feels so much more relaxed after I've used it. It's the perfect daily cleanser if you have a dry or sensitive skin, because it's really mild and won't dry your skin out. What's more, it comes in a super handy pump, the perfect match for a lazy bitch like me. It's so easy to use and to top all the goodness, it smells great too!
I've been using this product for about a year now, and it is the best facial product I've used in ages. Only good stuff, I promise!
To stick with the skincare, I rediscovered this amazing product. During the cold winter days, where I go from heated room to cold wind to another heated room, my skin tends to get really dry and irritated. Especially the skin at the beginning of my hairline gets all itchy and annoying, but this "jar of pure skinfood" from the beauty bakery meant the end to that. It is made out of 100% shea butter, which is the perfect ingredient for skin that needs moisturizing. Just pop a pea-sized bit on your needy-bits and you're good to go. This little tin has lasted me for over a year now, and it's not even 1/4th empty! It's great on the lips as well, or on any other dry and irritated place on your person (hands, elbows, knees..). So glad I found this back!
Another Nivea product! My bottle looks rather blemished (blame the kohl pencils I foolishly left uncapped..) but this hydrating coloured day cream leaves my skin looking rather perfect. This product also uses the hydra-IQ technique, but what I like most about this cream is that i offers quite some coverage, without being unnatural or cake-y. I use it without any other day cream, and it really has helped me and my blemish-stricken face this month. I've been "suffering" from outbreaks and spots since I hit puberty, and it has always been a struggle for me. It has been getting better lately, but especially the chin can get really tricky. This cream has been a great help for both my skin and my confidence. 10 points for you, nivea. you go, nivea!
Two other things I've enjoyed slathering on my face are these two products. The Essence multi action mascara has been a real pleasure this month. Before this one I always used the P2 beauty insider one, but this one has been a nice change. It doesn't smudge and the brush is really easy to handle, which is a must with my shakey hands. To finish my eyes, I love a natural smokey eye. It just makes me seem more awake without it being to harsh, and this shimmery brown eye shadow from H&M* has been doing the trick for the last couple of weeks. I bought it for only €1, so it was a total bargain, and to be honest i didn't expect much of it, being a H&M product. But it has blown me away. It is so easy to blend (I like to use a champagne coloured shadow in the inner corner of my eye and blend in the brown) and doesn't smudge that much. Great job, H&M!
*I couldn't find the one i bought since it was on sale, but this palette will do ;)
On to something not skin-related, but not at all less relaxing. I bought this candle at primark while shopping with one of my best friends, and the scent is A-MAZING. The pineapple mixed with the ginger makes your room smell like a exotic bakery; both Christmas-y and Summer-y without it being weird. Primark makes some awesome candles, in general. The only thing that bothers me is that the "burns up to 30 hours" is not true. At all. I have burned mine for about 4 hours now, and it's already pretty worn down.. Oh well, for only 6 or so euros, you can't really expect more, right?
Last but not least, let's indulge in a passion of mine. I love tea. And when I say love, I mean that I have drunk 3 cups while typing down this post. I have 15 or so different flavours, and I love every single one of them, but this relaxing organic herbal one is absolutely sublime. My sister gave it to me for Christmas, but I didn't try it out until January, hence the January favourite. Only the smell of it calms me down already, but with valerian as one of the ingredients, it really does calm you down. I like to drink it during my evening series-watching when I had a rough or stressful day, and believe me, I sleep so much better because of it. Herbal powers, my 9-hours-a night thank you!
So, those are my January favourites! I hope you enjoyed, and I hope it was in some way useful. I will introduce some more of these "topics" the coming posts, to both get a bit more structure in my blog, and a bit more motivation for me to start typing. Let me know what kind of things you like to read about, so that I can keep your opinion in mind!
Stay true to who you are, you are amazing, and I will see you soon!
Janeri xxxx
